Self-care is important for the mind and body, and decorating cookies can be a purposeful activity of mindfulness amidst a hectic world. In this hands-on cookie decorating class, we’ll pay homage to some popular sources of serenity by creating a beautiful flower bouquet, a calm cup of tea, and spa hot stones.

In “Sweet Zen” we’ll be using a multitude of decorating techniques to create these charming cookies, all of which can be applied to endless other cookie designs. However, students should have a solid foundation of basic icing skills (piping and flooding) prior to class. Once at home, the decorating excitement can continue! You’ll have access to a class workbook with templates, supply lists, and a review of each part of the designs.

• Texturizing royal icing
• Creating and combining royal icing transfers
• Crafting two kinds of florals using a tipless bag and flower nail
• Accenting with wafer paper
• Achieving a wet-on-wet technique
