Are you ready to spend the day diving deep into advanced painting techniques, with a full schedule of learning, demonstration, and hands-on practice from start to finish?

This all-day class is designed for cookie decorators who want to elevate their painting skills by creating semi-realistic, 3D–style effects using edible gel coloring. Throughout the day, we will focus on painting a realistic human eye, using advanced techniques to build depth, realism, and the illusion of dimension on a flat cookie surface. This class is strictly focused on hand-painting.

This is an advanced-level class. Students should already feel comfortable working with paint brushes and gel food coloring, and have prior experience with hand-painted cookies. Due to the level of detail and technique required, this class may not be the best fit for beginners.

The day will include a lecture component paired with hands-on demonstration and guided practice. We’ll spend time breaking down concepts, techniques, and decision-making so you understand not just what to do, but why each step matters. Each portion of the day is intentionally planned to make thoughtful use of our time together, with plenty to learn and apply.

To support continued learning beyond the classroom, students will receive printed handouts covering key concepts and reference material to use when practicing at home.

In this class, we will:

• Identify light and shadow within images
• Discuss the importance of transitions
• Learn how layering color builds depth, texture, and realism
• Cover essential do’s and don’ts of advanced hand painting

At the end of class, you’ll receive a box to safely transport your cookie home, along with a swag bag to help you continue practicing what you’ve learned.
